How to help Komputers 4 Kids!

There are various ways that you can help us achieve our aims.

1. Donate your old equipment!

Obviously, to enable us to give away computers to families in need, we need the hardware to actually give away! This also helps you too, as under the WEEE directives, you are no longer able to throw away waste electrical equipment! We can collect with the help of our supporters UK-IT Recycling, locally this will be within a few days. However if you prefer to deliver, we are located in Shrewsbury.

All donated equipment will be completely data-wiped to comply with DPA and European directives, however, if you feel more secure, we are happy for you to retain your hard drive. We can also destroy it or return it to you if you require. The equipment does not need to be in full working order, however, we do really need a minimum of Pentium 4 or equivalent to allow the machine to run software used in schools and education. Please email us to discuss what you can offer.

2. Start a 'Branch office' in your area

If you have the time, skills and space, why not work with us? Start a group under our name in your area. Please email us to discuss this further if you think it is for you.

3. Put our logo/link on your website

Please email us with the address of the website you would like to put our logo/link on. Obviously there will be certain types of site we would not like to be associated with.

Unfortunately we do NOT operate a reciprocal link scheme.

It was an idea the team discussed but it was decided that we would not operate such a scheme as it could potentially detract from the main purpose of our website

We reserve the right to place a link on the home page for those who have contributed significantly, either financially or practically, by regular or large donations of equipment as well as those who give practical support with the day to day administration. These links will also be required to reflect the ethos of our organisation.

Although equipment we give our recipients is donated to us, there are expenses incurred in running the organisation, such as phone, postage, fuel for delivery/collection etc etc. Any donation is gratefully received, from 50p upwards!
